We have jumped right into the business of exploring and learning in our third grade class! We recently took a "field trip" around the school looking for different types of leaves.
The students were amazed at what they discovered. Our school had a lot of different types of leaves! All shapes, sizes and colors.
We got down to business and collected data in our Science Journals...
We listed attributes of our leaves ( dead, brown, smooth, spotted...) and then compared ( how our leaves were the same) and contrasted ( how our leaves were different).

Eric came home from school wanting to go outside and collect leaves! :) He placed them in one of our coffee mugs, filled it with water, and placed it out in the sunshine! I think it's great that they had the opportunity to get outdoors and explore!
Music to this teacher's ears!
