Multiplication Secrets
Today we introduced multiplication in our class! We started off with two essential secrets!
Secret 1: The commutative property of multiplication. The numbers(factors) in a multiplication number sentence (equation) may be put in any order. The answer(product) will be the same!
Example: A x B = C (3x5=15)
B x A = C (5x3 =15)
We also introduced our 0's and 1's time tables! We sure do have bright students in room 78! We have all already learned these times tables! :)
Things to remember:
Zero multiplied by any number is always zero! (0x1=0)
Any number multiplied by zero is always zero! (1x0=0)
One times any number equals that number. (1x4=4)
Any number times one equals that number. (4x1=4 )Here is a link to some extra practice games! Remember Secret #2... We ALL need to practice!

Destination Success
Students have been working on assigned activities in Destination Success Reading and Math during our computer time each day. This is an awesome program that will allow me to assign a benchmark/task based on the needs of each student. The program will also automatically assign activities based on each student's assessment.
I will continue to upload new games and assessments for student engagement. I encourage you to allow your child to use Destination Success at home.
Check out the quick link on the top right of our blog.
For additional assistance, please read the parent guide! Check planner for login and passwords.

October's Book of the Month

Here is a sneak peek of October's Book of the Month! We will be reading/studying Stellaluna! Our class will dive deep into the text and discover its rich vocabulary, uncover the author's purpose, and even have meaniful conversations about text features!
* Any student from our class that is reading this:
1. Write down the title of October's Book of the Month.
2. Fold your paper in half and write my name on the outside.
3. Hand me your "note" Tuesday or Wednesday.
4. Don't tell anyone what your note says. Shhhhh :)
5. Smile! You will be rewarded for a job well done!
Math Centers

We have been working on adding Math centers into our day. Today we introduced one of my favorite games as a center.... Rummikub! This is one of those games that will make you think and keep you on your toes! "If you're looking for a fast action game where the outcome is undecided until the last play and has a never-ending variety of strategies and play situations, you'll love Rummikub!" -Rummikub
